Ash Wednesday Dedication
Following the tragic events in the Ukraine, I am writing to alert you to the call of Pope Francis for Ash Wednesday to be dedicated to be a universal day of prayer and fasting for peace. I am sure the tragedy unfolding in the Ukraine will be on the minds of all our people as they prepare for Lent and will join the Holy Father in asking the help of the prayers of Our Lady, Queen of Peace to “preserve the world from the madness of war.”
I attach with this message a link to the Holy Father’s words at the General Audience on Wednesday and also to the appeal made by Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski, Eparchial Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the United Kingdom.
